Farm stay at Tumbo Adventures 2012

Our farm:
Tumbo is a small farm of 20 hectares run by Anna and Ian Jamieson. The farm is situated just outside Malexander village in the south of Östergötland. We are surrounded by four lakes and majestic forests. We keep horses, sheep, cattle and various small animals. Our grazing land is full of valuable biodiversity such as rare flowers, insects, birds, trees and shrubs. We will gladly guide you in the paddocks and show you our treasures.

The house:
The vacation house is situated more or less in one of our grazing paddocks. You will be able to sit on the veranda and watch the horses go for their water in the evenings and mornings.
The house is at present undergoing a total renovation so we cannot show you any pictures of the inside as yet – but you can follow the building progress in our blog!
The house is modern in style and equipment but very traditional in feel. There are three separate bedrooms – two with double/twin beds and one with a bunk bed + a single bed. There are two separate bathrooms, one completely new with shower a shower and a washing machine and the other with WC and a hand basin. One can arrange extra beds to accommodate in total 8 people.
There is a full size electric cooker/oven, microwave cooker, a fridge and a freezer, a dishwasher, a TV, a stereo and plenty of cooking equipment to use. The house is connected to high speed internet/broad band for free use. There is a wood burner in the cosy sitting room area, a large kitchen table indoors and a sheltered veranda with tables and chairs outside. To sit there and watch and listen as the sun goes down and the birds fly home to roost is maybe the best part of a Tumbo day...

The horses:
We run a horse trekking business and you are welcome to book riding with us at any time during your stay. We always ride with small groups and we will adapt our rides after you experience – or lack of it! We can offer beginner lessons in an enclosed paddock and more adventurous rides in the forest. The rides start from 350 SEK for a one hour ride and we can also offer all day rides with food out on the trail.

The nature:
Tumbo is surrounded by deep forests and enchanting lakes. Neighbouring us there is a brand new nature reserve protecting 50 hectares of untouched forest. There are marked out walks all around the area and maps to help you find your way around. Make sure to bring good walking boots! There is good fishing in the lakes and when you buy your weekly fishing permit you get free use of the fishing club rowing boats situated within easy reach of Tumbo.

The village:
Malexander is a small village situated right on Lake Sommen. The village comes to life in the summer and has a shop, a petrol station, three restaurants and some craft shops too! There is a majestic church where there are regular services and sometimes music recitals. Find out more about Malexander on
